A translational immunology study analyzing NK-cell counts, cytolytic function, and cytokine signatures in hospitalized patients with severe COVID-19.
We evaluated NK-cell counts, phenotype, and functional activity in hospitalized patients with severe COVID-19 to understand innate immune dysregulation during SARS-CoV-2 infection. Using flow cytometry and cytokine profiling, we assessed cytolytic capacity, activation markers, and soluble mediators. We observed pronounced functional impairment, supporting the concept that weakened NK-cell responses contribute to hyperinflammation.
